In

ancient

times

Long

ago,

people

did

not

understand

weight.

They

measured

things

by

how

many

objects

they

could

carry.

For

example,

a

person

could

carry

a

bundle

of

straw,

or

six

rocks.

However,

this

did

not

tell

how

much

something

weighed.

Later,

people

started

comparing

the

weight

of

objects.

They

would

hold

both

objects

in

their

hands

and

feel

which

one

was

heaviest.
